AMD and the Chilean National Center for Artificial Intelligence (CENIA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening research, talent development, and knowledge transfer in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The agreement seeks to promote the development of open and collaborative solutions that accelerate the adoption of AI in strategic sectors of the region, reinforcing Chile’s role as a scientific and technological leader in Latin America. Through this alliance, both institutions will work together on applied research projects, advanced training programs, and the use of high-performance computing infrastructure for training AI models.
“AMD is committed to democratizing access to Artificial Intelligence through open, efficient, and sustainable ecosystems. Our collaboration with CENIA reflects this purpose: connecting AMD’s global leadership in AI infrastructure with the talent and scientific vision of Chile,” stated Nicolás Cánovas, General Manager of AMD for Latin America.
In turn, Álvaro Soto, director of CENIA, highlighted that “this alliance with AMD represents a unique opportunity to link cutting-edge research to concrete applications that benefit society. Together, we will advance the development of responsible, ethical AI with an impact on the challenges of the region.”
The agreement includes exploring new opportunities for collaboration in research, technology transfer, and training programs for researchers and students.
The signing took place during a visit by Keith Strier, AMD’s Global Vice President of AI Initiatives, who highlighted: “These alliances are essential for building sustainable technological ecosystems. Chile is taking concrete steps towards regional leadership in AI, and AMD is proud to be part of that journey.”
