ChatGPT Will Begin Showing Ads: Here’s What They’ll Be Like – Revista Merca2.0

ChatGPT is preparing for a new phase in its operating model. The artificial intelligence platform, used by millions of people worldwide to answer questions, create texts, program, and analyze information, will begin testing the inclusion of ads in certain formats. The decision marks a significant shift in the tool’s monetization strategy and aims to expand access to its features without requiring users to necessarily assume a direct cost. Here’s how this system will work.
The introduction of ads in ChatGPT will be gradual and controlled. In an initial testing phase, advertising will appear only at the end of some responses, provided there is a clear relationship between the user’s conversation and the sponsored product or service. The goal is to avoid interruptions to the core experience and preserve the usefulness of the answers generated by artificial intelligence.

Ads will be clearly identified as sponsored content and displayed separately from the system’s organically generated text. In addition, users will be able to see why they are being shown a particular ad, as well as dismiss it and provide feedback about that decision. This approach prioritizes transparency and user control, two key elements in an increasingly regulated digital environment that is sensitive to data usage.
During the testing period, ads will not be shown to accounts that explicitly state they do not want to see advertising, nor to users the system estimates are under 18 years old. Likewise, ads will be avoided near topics considered sensitive or regulated, such as health, mental health, or politics. With these restrictions, ChatGPT aims to minimize risks and maintain standards of safety and responsibility in communication.
The inclusion of ads responds to a strategy to diversify revenue streams while simultaneously expanding access to artificial intelligence tools. Advertising is presented as a way to offer more complete experiences in free or low-cost plans, reducing limitations without shifting the entire financial burden onto users.
From this perspective, ads are not conceived solely as traditional promotional messages, but as experiences integrated into the conversation. Artificial intelligence allows advertising to be more contextual and functional, making it easier for people to ask specific questions related to purchasing decisions and receive relevant information in real time.
Another objective is to support small businesses and emerging brands. Thanks to AI, even players with limited budgets can create high-quality advertising experiences, compete on a more level playing field, and reach audiences that would otherwise be difficult to access. In this sense, advertising within ChatGPT is presented as a tool to democratize commercial visibility in an environment historically dominated by large platforms.

Currently, ChatGPT does not actively display ads. However, the company plans to begin testing in the coming weeks in the United States, exclusively targeting users over 18 who use the Free and ChatGPT Go plans. These tests will allow the company to evaluate user reception, the impact on the user experience, and the effectiveness of the conversational format.
It is important to note that paid plans such as ChatGPT Plus, ChatGPT Pro, ChatGPT Business, and ChatGPT Enterprise will not include ads. These subscriptions will continue to offer an ad-free experience, with access to advanced features, higher usage capacity, and specialized tools for professionals and businesses.
ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence platform based on advanced language models, designed by OpenAI to understand and generate text naturally. It operates using neural networks trained on large volumes of information, enabling it to answer questions, write content, translate languages, generate code, and analyze data across different contexts.
The tool is used both personally and professionally. Students, content creators, developers, journalists, and companies rely on ChatGPT to optimize tasks, improve creative processes, and quickly access structured information. Its popularity lies in its ability to maintain fluid conversations and adapt to the specific needs of each user.
OpenAI was founded in 2015 with the goal of advancing artificial intelligence that is safe and beneficial for humanity. Since its inception, OpenAI has focused on advanced research and the development of models capable of learning and reasoning from large datasets.
Over the years, the company has released multiple versions of its language models, each more sophisticated and accurate than the last. ChatGPT became one of its most recognized products, marking a turning point in the mass adoption of conversational artificial intelligence. Today, OpenAI combines research, commercial development, and strategic partnerships to continue expanding the reach of its technologies, while exploring sustainable models that ensure their long-term evolution.
