A SHEEP stuck on a ledge at a disused quarry near Ingleton was rescued on Monday by Cave Rescue volunteers using specialist equipment.
After giving the sheep time to get down on its own, team members set up a rope system, one member abseiled to the animal and persuaded it into the team's Specialist Aerial Carrying Kit – enabling it to be pulled back to safety.

A spokesperson for CRO said rescues of animals from high up were high risk for the animal because it might try and get away and end up falling.
The team therefore usually waited at least 24 hours for the animal to 'self-rescue'.
"When it did not do so, team members attended and, having discussed the situation with the farmer, set up a rope rescue system," said the spokesperson.

"One team member abseiled down to the sheep and persuaded it into our Specialised Aerial Carrying Kit.
"Other team members then hauled the sheep up and returned it, unharmed, to the farmer for return to its flock.
