According to a new study conducted by independent economic analysis firm Public First (and commissioned by TikTok), businesses advertising on TikTok generated €31 billion ($36 billion) in economic output across the EU in 2025. That includes €2.6 billion for the creative economy, and €1.8 billion specifically across the EU music industry.
Public First estimates that creators and creative industries generated €2.6 billion in additional value last year, supporting around 52,000 jobs in the sector across the EU. That reflects activity across content creation, production, and advertising services linked to the platform.
In particular, the music industry has benefited from TikTok as a platform for discovery, illustrated in the report’s findings of €1.8 billion in additional revenue driven by streaming, live shows, and merchandise across the EU. For emerging acts, TikTok can play an increasingly important role in helping artists build sustained audiences.
The TikTok-commissioned study “draws on evidence gathered through new business and consumer surveys and economic modeling, combining data from Public First’s surveys and available third party data.” It examines how TikTok drives economic growth by helping businesses reach customers, generate revenue, and strengthen local economies. The report comes at a pivotal time for TikTok and its parent company ByteDance amid broader scrutiny from regulators in the EU and beyond.
Meanwhile, in the United States, TikTok is reportedly realigning its staff ahead of the planned “TikTok USA” launch, many of the details of which remain publicly undisclosed. Notably, a memo from TIkTok CEO Shou Zi Chew outlined that some employees in the U.S. would remain employed by Chinese parent company ByteDance—but under a new entity called TT Commerce & Global Services, LLC.
