YouTube is breaking ad blockers again – How-To Geek

If you have been seeing the infuriating “This content isn’t available, try again later” error on YouTube recently, you are certainly not alone. It looks like this widespread issue may be the platform’s newest, more aggressive attempt to break ad-blocking extensions.
Users on Reddit across Chrome and Firefox desktops have reported the message popping up immediately when trying to play any video. This is not just a regional problem. There are comments that show some people are even getting a “content not available in your country” message, which is even more confusing.
The evidence strongly suggests this is intentional behavior rather than a simple technical glitch. I also noticed the other day that my videos said that they were unavailable when I was using another account (where I have AdBlocker), but that same video showed fine when I switched to my premium account. I thought it was just a cache issue since I use different Chrome windows for these accounts.
This immediate fix that came when not using an adblocker is a pretty clear signal of what is happening here. YouTube has not officially acknowledged the problem, which is typical for silent updates to anti-adblock detection scripts.
Naturally, the community is looking for ways around this inconvenience. While some people are reluctantly disabling their ad blockers, many others are refusing to cave. For those who want to keep their ad blockers active, there are a few temporary solutions floating around the web.
“A popular workaround involves clicking “Learn More” on the error screen, which takes you away from the video. When you click your browser’s ‘Back’ button to return, the video often loads correctly. Other users have found success by simply spamming the refresh button until the video eventually loads.
One Reddit user went over specific filter rules for uBlock Origin that reportedly fix the startup delay issue entirely. Since ad blocker developers are constantly updating their lists, we can expect extensions like uBlock to quickly release an update that bypasses this block completely. Until then, you might have to endure a few extra clicks to keep your viewing experience ad-free. Here are the filters to add:
People are fiercely protective of their browser and what they are forced to watch, and Google keeps mixing things up. Extensions are great for ad-blocking, but you can also use them to manage the platform’s increasingly cluttered interface. Tools like the Control Panel for YouTube extension are becoming essential for viewers who want to reclaim control over their feeds.
For users who dislike the TikTok-style clips, this tool can completely remove Shorts from the homepage, cleaning up the interface significantly. It also disables the new AI-generated summaries, which is great for viewers who want to watch the video without being biased by an automated synopsis first.
Clearly, there’s a big market for avoiding ads and the more invasive features YouTube has added. This latest error message is just another tactical escalation in YouTube’s ongoing effort to push users toward its Premium subscription model. Hopefully, the ad blocker maintainers will issue a fix quickly so we can all get back to watching videos without the extra clicks.

Google Premium is not available in your country is even more annoying. Believe it or not, I find YT content very useful and I would be happy to pay. But no Premium available, while advertisements are plentiful.
Just use the Brave browser. YouTube ad problem solved.
