Meta announced changes to its advertising business during its Advertising Week event in New York in 2026, covering the enhancement of its business assistant, expanded creative tools availability, new video options and in-slate shopping and the like. Social Media Today cited the news on October 6, 2026.
Some of these tools are now available while others are still in development. The following are a list of the changes and what advertisers should do with them.
The latest enhancement to Meta’s AI-powered business assistance provides two crucial updates to make the tool more valuable. Firstly, the company is set to introduce new creative insights to the tool. Secondly, the assistant will be able to utilize a larger amount of memory and context to offer its recommendations. According to the company, the context will include what the advertiser was doing during the last quarter, the seasonality and the goals that the advertiser has outlined.
This is an important update, as generalized advice tends to get ignored by many. Advice that takes into account one’s personal history is less likely to be ignored by users. This means that an assistant that can take into account one’s last quarter and their busy season can offer suggestions that are more relevant to the user’s needs.
Meta is also working on import tools. Brands will be able to upload their strategy documents to the system, as well as their brand voice guidelines. The assistant will use them to improve what it produces.
It solves one of the main criticisms of AI marketing – that it sounds generic. Having the tool ingest a brand’s rules may make its output closer to what the company actually says.
The feature is in testing, so it is not yet available to all.
The assistant is also being given what Meta refer to as agentic capacity. In other words, it has the ability to take action, not just make suggestions. Advertisers can employ conversational prompts to let the new tool create different creative elements, adjust targeting and even change the budget of a given campaign.
This marks an important evolution. Shifting from “here is a suggestion” to “I will make this change” saves time and increases responsibility. A change to a budget driven by a chat should be reviewed and approved before going live. Advertisers should take a close look at the approval and review process once they have access.
Meta is testing out scheduled tasks as well, like recurring performance reports and alerts. This means they want to assure advertisers that they will be made aware of any potential issues before they happen.
This could potentially replace a task an advertiser would normally do by hand, but instead would be done by the assistant. For instance, instead of logging into your account every Monday to look at some numbers, your personal assistant could send you a report and alert you if a number takes a nosedive.
Meta announced earlier this year the launch of Ads Creative Studio, an innovative tool that uses performance data and audience insights to highlight successes and offer AI-powered recommendations on how to act on them. Until now, Meta has only made the tool available to select ad partners. The company is now looking to expand its availability to more brands. Meta has not given a date in the report, so advertisers should be on the lookout in their own accounts.
This follows a similar trend to the Cannes Lions announcements in June 2026, where Meta pitched an end-to-end creative system that includes a Creative Strategy Space, designed to unite creative and media teams by transforming campaign insights into new creative decisions.
In addition, Meta has enhanced its Meta Ads MCP server to support a growing number of applications. This tool enables advertisers to leverage third-party artificial intelligence tools to design and operate their advertising campaigns.
This is an excellent option for those who already use external programs since they do not have to switch between different platforms but instead work together. At the same time, it marks Meta’s intention for advertisers to use various software to operate their advertising campaigns, not only the company’s tools
Meta is now making Customer Lifecycle Strategy available to all advertisers, so that they can select the audiences that each campaign should target. Meta argues that this leaves the recommendations and the modifications in line with an overarching focus
For instance, a campaign targeting new customers, and a separate one targeting returning buyers, would each have a clear objective, so that the tools would be able to focus on it rather than veer off-track.
Video is also generating interest. With Advantage+ creative, advertisers and agencies can now generate a video in their static assets. Meta announced this function as generally available.
Within the Ads Creative Studio, marketers should be able to generate entirely new video concepts and variations thereof. Furthermore, they can be edited with new tools. These allow, among other things, to edit the hooks, to change the audio and the length of the clips, to add text overlays and captions or to change the end scenes.
Meta is also simplifying the creation of video content from catalog listings and is introducing related product recommendations to upscale. The benefit for retailers who have a large catalog is that they can reduce their video production time significantly by deriving videos from their online catalog. However, the quality will determine whether such an approach is worthwhile.
The biggest strategically impactful change may be commerce. Meta argues that people discover brands via creators they trust, communities that they’re part of and AI that understands their needs. This trend is increasingly taking place in the Meta AI, Muse and Meta Business Agent. Meta is building partnerships with retailers to enable direct purchase within a conversation.
The company is partnering with Shopify to create a direct checkout experience, using Meta Business Agent on Messenger. Shoppers will be able to directly buy Shopify products within the stream. Meta is also testing similar checkout options for Meta AI with Adyen, PayPal, Shopify and Stripe.
Social Media Today notes that Meta’s Muse AI is proving popular with users. If this trend continues, commerce from AI conversations could prove beneficial to brands. Meta has claimed more than one million businesses are already using Meta Business Agent, per reports on its June launch announcement.
Begin your Ads Manager discovery by reviewing the set of available features. Most of the tools have been recently released or are currently under development.
Next, collect your brand’s tone-of-voice guidelines and strategy notes. Once the approval tools become available in your Ads Manager, you will be one step ahead of the competition. Double-check your team’s approval rules to make sure that the change in targeting or spending level would not be mistaken for a real modification. Define proxy rules that will allow an assistant to update the budget without access to the main account.
Finally, request a test run of video generation. Compare the results to your existing library of creative assets and approve the tool for wide adoption.
Several items on the list are tests, not launches. That includes import tools, scheduled tasks and the new checkout options. The timing of rollouts is not specified for most of them.
In addition, these are Meta’s own descriptions. Actual results will depend on how well the tools perform in practice.
