North Shore’s on a mission to repeat as 6A Division 1 state champions and are off to a 7-0 start and 5-0 in district while C.E. King is aiming to come to Galena Park ISD Stadium and pull off the upset in front of a sellout crowd.
“It’s going to be a fun night here and we’re ready to go, ” North Shore Head Coach Willie Gaston told KPRC 2 Sports Director and Friday Football Frenzy creator Randy McIlvoy.
“We had a good week to prepare and now we need to go there and play smart football,,” said C.E. King Head Coach Corey Laxen.
Laxen is a former North Shore assistant coach so knows what it will take to beat the Mustangs.
“We have to protect the football first and foremost,” said Laxen. ” We give the ball away and expect to win.”
North Shore is rolling again this season and has a defense that has earned four shutouts in their 7 regular season games.
“We have to find a way to run the football and do it well,” said Coach Gaston. ” Last year we had success running the ball at close to 400 yards and we hope to run it well tonight.”
